It's my mama's birthday... My sis and I bought her a Coach handbag for her birthday. We went to Jiang-Nan Chun at four seasons Hotel (my dad's present to me mama!!). They served Cantonese cuisine. Their food is not bad but dessert is not that nice, at least my chinese pear dessert is very sour. I will give a rating of about 7.5 out of 10. However, they have really creative dishes..

First they served appetiser, instead of the usual peanuts or prickles, they served siew mai in a small individual bowl.

After our main course and before dessert, they served complementary lime juice in small little glasses and a complementary dessert (walnut cake and water chestnut agar agar).

Yeah finally after so many visits to different hotels, my boyfriend and I decided on the Shangri La.

We have been viewing hotels since April, so we have been going to hotels almost every weekend to view their ballroom. We were looking for a hotel that can hold about 35 - 38 tables. We went to:

1)Swissotel The Stamford (Don't like their reception, as you have to share the area with many weddings esp if you want to hold the dinner on a weekend)
2)Marina Mandarin (Min 40 pp for big ballroom and the smaller ballroom can accomodate 30+ table but has a very low ceiling)
3)Sheraton Towers (Don't like their ceiling too, half low and half high so abit funny)
4)Pan Pacific (Also the same like Marina Mandaring... I dont think I have so many guest to invite man)
5)Orchard Hotel (Hmm cost about $1020 for a 4 star hotel, not so worth le.. although they have a popular restaurant call Hua Ting)
6)Regent They have beautiful and romantic themes, good food (Summer Place is popular for food) and we were about to put a deposit to that hotel but my friend, Camelia and a few other colleagues said that FEW PEOPLE knows Regent is a 5 star hotel and not many people would expect Regent to cost about $1100 per table of 10 person. So we decided to hold on the deposit...
7) Shangri La
We went down to take a look at the hotel and their banquet. They have quite good themes, I simply love their wedding cards and their numerous choices of wedding favours. My boyfriend and my friends said that although Shang is $100 more per table, it is more worth it.

So we had made the decision last week to sign our contract at Shangri La with Jean..
Hehe this is a photo of my ballroom..
PS: If anybody wants to see the 2008 banquet packages for hotels, can email me at philana_secdc@yahoo.com.sg, I have the packages for about 15 hotels... hehe..

Went for team building at Pulai Spring Resort at JB on Friday 6th July. The website shows a beautiful resort with beautiful rooms and restaurants. We stayed in the CintaAyu suites (2 or 3 bedroom suites) that are recently open 3-4 mths ago.
http://www.pulaisprings.com/psr.htm

However, when we arrived, we requested for an early check-in. We have about 50+ people waiting for our room keys. We got our room in batches. When I gotten the key, we realised our room was not ready and the housekeepers are still in our room. The housekeepers gave us a nasty look and scolded us for entering the room. She made a phone call to the reception and scolded the reception for giving us the keys.

We went down after 20 min and realised that almost half of the others are still waiting at the lobby for their room keys. When we questioned the reception, they gave us a nasty look and said that they are doing us a favour for letting us get the keys earlier and that the official book-in time is 3pm.

My other colleagues waited until 3.30pm then they finally get their keys to their room and even that, the housekeepers are still in their room packing (WHICH WAY AFTER THE CHECK-IN TIME)!!

Lunch was terrible.. the buffet at the cafe was so slow taking out new food.. The food run out really quickly and there was a shortage of food...

My room is quite nice as it has a backdoor facing the pool, the master bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe with a beautiful toilet... However, we soon realised that it was too good to be true..

The backdoor facing the pool was spoilt.. It took about 5-8 min trying with all our strengthen to open and lock the door as the lock was faulty!!! So dangerous man... And the toilet lock had a problem too... It was quite difficult to lock and open the door... And to think that this resort is recently renovated 3-4 mths ago!!!

After dinner when we make our way back to the hotel, along the way it was PITCH BLACK.. some areas the resort switch on the lights, some there wont any lights, and we had to switch on our HP flash light in order to walk safely down the stairs.

My colleagues said that they will NEVER go back there again... Such a pity, rooms design are good but the quality of the furnitures and the services were BAD.

Went to Hey Hey Hotpot at Paradiz Centre which is owned by mediacorp artiste Terence Cao and a Hong Kong Stunt man. They serve Hong Kong style steam-boat with special ingredients for the steamboat. They also serve very good soup base.

We had the Wintermelon soup base. In the wintermelon, there is dried scallop, wolfberries, prawn, scallop. The waitress will scoop out the concentrated soup with these ingredients in a bowl for every one. And the remaining soup we can put the raw ingredients in to cook. The re-fill of the soup taste as good as the first round of soup.

Century Eggs with prawn roll

Nice Presentation of Ingredients

Golden Mushroom wrapped with Beef

Fried Wanton

Sotong Ball with Cheese Stuffing

Prawn Ball with Crab Roe Stuffing
